Yahoo Japan marketplaces ban bulk Pokémon card listings in scalper crackdown
The Pokémon Company and LINE Yahoo have brought in rules, effective October 13, banning carton listings, empty boxes and packs, and bulk sales of new releases like the 30th Celebration set on Yahoo! Auctions and Yahoo! Flea Market, according to Dexerto. Mercari took similar steps in September.
This targets bulk sealed flipping, not singles, so day-to-day buying and selling of individual cards is untouched. It is Japan-only, and eBay scalping abroad carries on as before. The thing to watch is whether cutting off these resale outlets actually cools 30th Celebration prices or just pushes the stock elsewhere.
