Attic stash of 42 mint Pokémon sets sells for £1.56m at UK auction
A retired decorator's attic collection of 42 mint Pokémon master sets sold for £1.56 million at Ewbank's in Guildford, against a £270,000 estimate, according to The Mirror. The top lot, a complete Legendary Collection Master Set, hammered at £100,000 versus a £15,000 to £20,000 guide.
A near six-times-estimate result shows how far serious bidders will stretch for complete vintage master sets in untouched condition. One attic find isn't the whole market, though: condition and completeness did the work here. Expect more long-held collections to surface on the back of a result like this.
